We assist clients on a fee paying basis throughout Australia and will consider acting for legally aided clients in the state of Queensland.
Fees for our work vary depending upon the scope, complexity, and time involved.
A standard hourly charge applies for initial consultations. Once we have a better understanding of your requirements, we are usually able to provide an estimate of the likely costs that will be involved, so you can assess the cost/benefit of taking further legal advice.
Where your matter involves protracted negotiation and/or litigation, we will provide you with estimates of the costs involved to advance your case to particular stages, and at each stage (there may only be one) we may ask you for a pre-payment into our trust account against which costs and outlays can be drawn.
In court matters, we generally use the Supreme Court scale (plus a loading depending on the complexity of the case) as the basis for working out our fees. It is our practice to have our fees assessed by an independent costs assessor and to share the cost of assessment equally with our client. The assessor's itemised summary is provided to our clients. This process provides our clients with the assurance of a transparent basis for charging and an independent assessment of work actually performed.
For an initial discussion about your needs and possible costs involved, please telephone or email us.
